The Eido do Luou was once an agricultural property with a farmhouse, dating from the 19th century. For years, it remained in the same family – country folk from the county of Ponte de Lima. Then in 2002, by now completely abandoned, it was taken over by a couple who tried to give it a new lease of life. The property was totally renovated, with the construction of a T1-type house, which attempted to maintain the characteristics and materials of the original as much as possible. As the new owners also wanted to make better use of the surrounding land (which occupied an area of 1,500 m2), they invested in various projects over the following 9 years, looking for solutions that would not spoil what was already there, but which could also provide a pleasant space for friends, relatives and guests. All the 6 double rooms at the Eido do Luou Guesthouse are designed to offer maximum comfort. Decorated in neutral shades, they are a refuge for the senses, a cosy intimate space that is relaxed and pleasant. These 6 double rooms may interconnect. The concrete floors and painted walls set the tone for the unique wicker furniture, much of which was produced by craftsmen. A sauna made of Finnish pine wood by Portuguese craftsmen and a Turkish bath complement the massage service for ultimate relaxation. This has resulted from a partnership with the Centre for Protected Employment at the Gaia Centre for Professional Rehabilitation (CRPG), whose mission is to foster the social and economic autonomy of disabled people, providing an array of services to help them acquire skills and qualifications, and hold down employment, thereby contributing to a more open and inclusive society. This highly gratifying partnership is certainly remembered by all our visitors, as they have ample opportunity to appreciate this work, taking very good memories away with them. Outside Sit on a park bench or a tree swing, while gazing at the river Neiva. Go fishing or take a swim in the river. Listen to the chirping of birds, read a book, pick some fruit, or go to peek at the newborn chicks or ducklings. You can play football on the grass or in a small foortball pitch, play basketball, badminton or ping-pong. Enjoy the swimming pool and lay on a hammock in the sun or the shade of a beautiful chestnut tree. The pool is in total privacy. On warmer days, breakfast can be served outdoors, beside a small fountain. |
