The deep and fertile soils not very old (Miocene to Quaternary) sediments of siliceous materials from the higher areas, together with the climate of marked Mediterranean features, unusually dry in Galicia and warm summers, constitutes a very suitable means so that the vine flourish and offer high quality products.

Grape varieties:

White: Dona Branca *, Godello *, Treixadura *, Albariño, Blanca de Monterrei, Caiño Blanco and Loureira

Red: Mencía *, Merenzao *, Tempranillo (Arauxa) and Caiño Tinto, Sousón.

Tasting notes:

White Monterrei: It presents a pale yellow colour with greenish shades, clean and bright. It is characterized by clean, fruity and floral aromas of medium intensity. In the mouth it shows sweet, fresh, balanced and persistent.

Red Monterrei: Presents a cherry red with purple hues, clean, brilliant middle layer. It is characterized by aromas of red fruits and flowers of medium intensity. In the mouth good persistence of fruit very balanced, with soft tannins.

White Monterrei (Barrica, Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva): presents a pale yellow color intensity, average, clean and bright. It is characterized by clean, fruity, floral and spicy aromas of the wood of medium intensity. Mouth shows sweet, balanced and persistent.

Tinto Monterrei (Barrica, Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva): presents a red Bigarreau cherry, clean, bright layer upper middle. Characterized by aromas of red fruits, flowers, roasted and seasoned wood of medium intensity. In palate: good fruit, tannins, smooth and very balanced and long aftertaste.

White: An alcoholic from 11% in volume

Red: An alcoholic from 11% in volume

White Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva: alcohol content between 11.5% by volume

Red Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva: alcohol content between 12% in volume
