The Denomination of Origin Catalunya spreads over the North-East of the Iberian Peninsula, between the Mediterranean Sea and the Pyrenees.

It is between the 40.3 and the 42.5 degrees north latitude and between 1 and the 3.2 degrees in length East of the meridian of Greenwich.

Brings together some 60,000 ha of vineyard surface divided into more than 300 municipalities of Catalonia, where the vine has traditionally grown, becoming a inherent characteristic element and its countryside, the diet of the inhabitants and their culture.

In total, the  CATALUNYA DO has authorized 35 varieties of grapes used to make their wines.

Among the varieties of white grapes we find: Albarinho, Chardonnay, Chenin, Garnacha Blanca, Gewürztraminer, Macabeu, Malvasía, Malvasía de Sitges, Moscatell (Alexandria and Frontignan), Parellada, Pedro Ximenez, Picapoll blanc, Riesling, Sauvignon blanc, Sumoll blanc, Xarel·lo, Viognier and Vinyater.

Between the black grape varieties there are: Cabernet Franc, cabernet sauvignon, Garnacha black, Garnacha Peluda, red Garnacha (grenache gray), Garnacha Tintorera, Merlot, Monastrell, Petit Verdot, black Picapoll, Pinot noir, Samsó (Cariñena), Sumoll, Syrah, Tempranillo and Trepat.

The main vocation of this wine making area is white wine production. Its white wines have a bright pale yellow colour and their nose unfolds fruity and floral aromas.

They are dry and pleasant, balanced in mouth and they have a long lasting aftertaste.

Rosé wines are made from Listán Negro variety. With an attractive pink colour, its main features are fruity and floral aromas, as well as its freshness and lightness in mouth.
